Alternative London airports during Northolt's temporary closure

London Biggin Hill (BQH/ EGKB), London Heathrow (LHR/ EGLL), London Southend (SEN/ EGMC), London City (LCY/ EGLC) and Blackbushe (BBS/ EGLK) are great alternatives during Northolt Airport’s closure (until mid-November), while runway resurfacing works take place


As a dedicated business aviation airport, Biggin Hill (which offers a six-minute helicopter link to central London) has seen impressive growth in air traffic following the extension of its opening hours in 2017. The airport is now open from 06.30-23.00 during the week and from 08.00-22.00 at the weekends. The airport has been operating its own FBO handling service for over 20 years, which is housed in the main terminal and boasts excellent facilities for both passengers and crew.


Meanwhile, London Southend is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week (364 days a year) and although Heathrow is a primary UK hub, like Southend it also offers dedicated business aviation facilities and strong access links to the city.


Located in London’s Royal Docks, London City Airport is hugely convenient for those needing quick, easy access to the UK capital. And, approximately 40 miles from London, Blackbushe is also a convenient choice with customers able to easily commute in or out of the city via helicopter in 15 minutes. The airport is also ideally situated for customers wanting to access the Thames Valley and south of England.
