Home to over 1,000 butterflies, a 6m tall waterfall and its own rainforest, this airport also features a four-storey-high slide, a canopy bridge suspended 23 metres above the ground and a rooftop swimming pool overlooking the runway. The airport was officially opened in December 1981 and has been expanding ever since. Last year, this airport served 68.3 million passengers and it is consistently ranked among the world’s top airports. 

 

In 2013 an ambitious redevelopment plan was unveiled for the airport with construction beginning in November that year. The new “jewel” in Asia Pacific’s aviation crown was officially opened in April 2019. 

 

With strong air passenger growth anticipated over the next 20 years, plans are already afoot for the airport’s next phase of development.
