Job Description:

As bp transitions to a coordinated energy company, we must adapt to a changing world and maintain competitive performance. bp’s customers & products (C&P) business area is setting up a business and technology centre (BTC) in Pune, India. This will support the delivery of an enhanced customer experience and drive innovation by building global capabilities at scale, using technology, and developing deep expertise. 

The BTC will be a core and connected part of our business, bringing together colleagues who report into their respective part of C&P, working together with other functions across bp. This is an exciting time to join bp and the customers & products BTC!

Demand Planner is responsible in leading demand planning function within the GME business in order to deliver excellent customer service and robust business planning while minimizing inventory!

Duties and Responsibilities:

Implement and handle the demand planning and control processes for GME across the Geographic PU’s (across more than 10,000 SKUs).

Developing and maintaining accurate demand forecasts in Planning tool based on historical data, market trends, and sales projections.

Facilitate monthly country demand review meeting including preparation required.

Use forecast accuracy and a measure of bias to identify actions that will improve the demand planning and control process and supporting assumptions.

Facilitate all actions that relate to the demand plan including decisions on issue resolution and gap closure.

Give support to the integrated reconciliation (IR) process through effective decision support and recommendations that resolve demand vs supply imbalances.

Manage a process that allows the understanding and documentation of opportunities and vulnerabilities to the demand plan.

Generate the statistical forecast vs the demand plan and update the demand plan if appropriate

Incorporate various inputs from sales and marketing at various levels into one consistent demand plan

Working closely with 3P manufacturing, customer service and distribution partners.

Evaluating product categorization and lifecycle management to improve inventory planning efficiency.

Supporting the S&OP/S&OE sessions with key stakeholders to prioritize customer needs and manage changes in demand.

Collaborating with cross-functional teams on product transitions, new product introductions (NPI), SLOB management and lifecycle management.

Conducting consensus demand meetings, Global Demand Sign offs, Regional Demand Meetings, global supply performance to provide input on global demand forecasting and gather market intelligence on new opportunities.

Driving continuous improvement initiatives, optimizing sourcing tactics, and consistently meeting or exceeding sales pipeline and revenue targets.

Supervising key performance indicators (critical metrics) such as forecast accuracy, demand variability, and IFOT service levels.

Risk management in identifying and taking corrective actions for potential risks in meeting demand due to supply disruptions, change in demand patterns etc.

Qualification and Experience:

  • University Graduate in Business Administration, Statistics, Engineering or equivalent with substantial experience in the lubricants, CPG or chemical industry, with the functional and leadership skills and capability in demand or supply planning.

  • Highly analytical, numerate with a strong attention to detail.

  • 8+ relevant business experience

  • High degree of digital literacy including advanced knowledge of Excel spreadsheets and business reporting tools

  • Strong in communication, influence, leading others

  • Recognizes and acts upon opportunities to improve business outcomes

  • Able to meet tight deadlines and face difficult situations with confidence and a can-do demeanor

  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse cross-functional teams to achieve outcomes, solve problems and improve processes. Make judgements independently

  • Strong understanding of demand planning and coordinated business management/sales & operations planning principles

  • Experience with end to end administration of forecasting databases and demand planning processes
