Luanda - BP Angola today delivered two 40 foot containers filled with medical equipment and supplies to Neves Bendinha and Cajueiros Hospitals located in Luanda. This donation will support the Angolan government´s objective to better equip hospitals and to improve care for patients.
"As part of our commitment to Angola, BP supports social projects that aim to bring tangible benefits to the local communities," said BP Angola vice-president for communications and external affairs Paulo Pizarro. "This is in line with the priorities of the Angolan government and is part of our support to the country's overall public health campaign."
The equipment and supplies have an estimated value of approximately US$550,000. BP provided another US$150,000 to support carriage and freight to Angola of material consisting of surgical instruments, lab supplies, tables for operating rooms, beds and other equipment.
"This donation significantly helps the medical team in terms of resources," said Cajueiro Hospital director Armando Alberto João. "The medical team and the population appreciate BP's assistance."
Today’s event was attended by representatives from BP Angola, the Angolan Ministry of Health and other local authorities.
In 2016, BP Angola donated a 40 foot container to Divina Providência Hospital in Luanda as a component of its public health campaign.
