In the March 2022 Climate Action 100+ (CA100+) Net Zero Company Benchmark, bp was assessed as “partial” for eight indicators and one as a “no” rating. Per the benchmark process, assessment was based on disclosures made through to end 2021.
Having set our net zero ambition in 2020, we’re in action on our strategy. And while the benchmark shows predominately positive scores, the timing of assessment means it does not reflect bp’s update on strategic progress from 8 February 2022, where we accelerated our scope 1 and 2 aim and increased and expanded our lifecycle emissions aim for the energy products we sell. As a result of these updates, bp is aiming to be net zero across operations, production and sales by 2050 or sooner – which we believe makes us unique among our peers.
We will continue our constructive engagement with CA100+ and look forward to helping to reflect our progress in future iterations of the benchmark.
