BP supports Gobustan Reserve

BP today signed a memorandum of understanding in Baku with the Gobustan State Historical-Artistic Reserve (GSHAR) to provide support to GSHAR via provision of internships to selected GHSAR employees, promotion of GSHAR among the visitors of the BP-operated Caspian Energy Centre (CEC) and organization of school visits to GSHAR.

 

As part of the agreement BP will provide free internships for four employees of GSHAR at the CEC to train them and promote group visits to the GSHAR. The internship will consist of two trainings for two GSHAR interns at a time, each training lasting for about two months. During the first two weeks the interns will observe CEC presentations and receive coaching from CEC presenters. At the end of two weeks the interns will join the CEC presenters to help with daily visits.

 

CEC employees and GSHAR interns will also develop information booklets describing main messages of GSHAR to provide to the school group visitors. The information in the booklets will be based on GSHAR’s research and will from part of the books issued by GSHAR under BTC/SCP sponsorship.

 

BP will provide bus transportation for school groups to and from GSHAR and for the interns to and from CEC during their internship. BP will also cover the cost of GSHAR tickets for school group visitors arranged by the CEC.

 

CEC was established by BP on behalf of its co-venturers in the major and oil gas projects in Azerbaijan to disseminate information about oil and gas developments in Azerbaijan through educational experience for schoolchildren and local communities.
