Building strong foundation of child upbringing

Release date:
24 February 2021
bp and its co-venturers in the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli, Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan, Shah Deniz, and South Caucasus Pipeline projects – SOCAR, TPAO, PETRONAS, MOL, LUKOIL, NICO, Equinor, INPEX, ExxonMobil, SGC, ITOCHU, ONGC, TOTAL and Eni – today publicly presented a book of recommendations underpinning fundamentals of child upbringing and parenting in particular and preschool education in general. The project has been funded by bp and its co-venturers as part of their commitment to supporting education and helping enhance local capabilities and skills at all levels.

The book “The Successful Foundation of Life” is the first publication of its kind that explores the most effective international experiences, techniques, models and principles of child upbringing and brings the best of them to Azerbaijan aligning and combining them with the established national ideas, methods, practices and traditions  of  promoting and supporting the physical, emotional, social, and intellectual development of a child from infancy to six years of age.

The book guides parents, educators and teachers in their day-to-day child raising activities by helping them utilize findings of the latest researches and take advantage of what is already known as the best practice both internationally and nationally. It is a science- and practice-based book highlighting the concept of the importance of putting healthy education in the foundation of a healthy society and a healthy future.

The book has been compiled by a large group of experts representing relevant public institutions such as the Ministry of Education, the State Committee on Family, Women and Children's Affairs, schools and kindergartens, as well as a number of private organizations.

Bakhtiyar Aslanbayli, bp’s Vice president Middle East and Caspian, Communications and Advocacy, said: “Over the past 28 years together with our co-venturers, we have supported school and university levels of education through numerous successful projects. However, education starts from birth and there are as many methods, theories and practices of raising and developing a child as the number of nations and even families.

“We are pleased that the best of child upbringing and parenting that is known by scientists and educators now has been compiled in one solid book of recommendations in a simple and self-explanatory language to help everyone engaged in raising and educating children either as a parent or professionally. I would say this is a fundamental publication of science and practice of child upbringing and parenting and the first of its kind, content and scale in the Azerbaijani language created by a large group of experts. We hope the book will be widely used and will contribute to the further development of the national science and practice of preschool education.”

The value of the project is 80,200 AZN.

The project was implemented by the local company Azedu which specializes in educational projects.
