bp donates US$200 000 to Cyclone Idai survivors

bp has donated $200,000 towards disaster relief in Mozambique following Cyclone Idai

Many people, including bp employees, have lost their homes and several bp retail sites have been destroyed across the area. All bp staff are safe and accounted for following the cyclone. However, Cyclone Idai has caused extensive damage in Mozambique, as much as 90% devastion in some areas.

 

bp’s $200,000 donation, made up of $150,000 from the bp Foundation to the Red Cross and $50,000 from the local bp fuel business, will go towards disaster relief efforts including partial restoration of infrastructure, food, water and medical supplies.

 

“We are deeply moved by the devastation caused by Cyclone Idai and are pleased to be providing support towards the relief efforts. The safety and wellbeing of our employees, customers and community at large is at the heart of everything we do at bp,” said BPSA CEO, Priscillah Mabelane.
