Technology is making a difference in bp’s plans to invest in today’s energy system and help build tomorrow’s. As an expert community of science, safety & security and digital specialists, our aim is to advance and protect bp.
Our safety & operational risk assurance authority sets bp-wide requirements and governance, as well as providing guidance and deep technical expertise. Intelligence, security and crisis management helps to make bp safer and more successful through insight, risk reduction and enabling resilient operations.
Applied sciences and technology is set across 10 technology centres with a research and development spend of $316 million per year. Its work is complemented by leading external partnerships and increasingly focused on reducing carbon emissions.
We continue to invest heavily in digital to transform and innovate at pace and scale. Our digital teams enable the underlying infrastructure from which over 87,000 staff and 600 sites operate and connect every day; protect and safeguard our systems, assets and people from cybercrime and digital threats; and leverage digital technology to deliver the products, platforms and services our business needs.
