How do I download the BP Plus app?

You can download the BP Plus app for free from the Google Play Store or the App Store.

What is the BP Plus app

The BP Plus app allows you to pay for fuel with a BP Plus card without leaving the comfort of your vehicle. Just remember to open the app before you fill.

The app also allows you to enter the odometer, registration number, driver ID, plus more with a transaction. Just like you would if you went inside the store.

What's new with the BP Plus app?

Over the last few years, a number of features have been added to the app.

  • Doubled the number of bp sites participating to over 700 stores.
  • We have added the ability to include additional transaction details with a Pay in car Transaction (e.g. odometer readings, registration number, driver IDs).
  • We added transaction restrictions to mimic the configuration on your fuel card*.
  • You can add as many BP Plus cards as you need should you drive many vehicles.
  • BP Plus fuel cards can be shared amongst drivers across teams, departments and organisations.
  • Added the ability to receive a virtual BP Plus card directly from your fleet manager.
  • Originally named ‘BPme for BP Plus’, the app underwent a name change from ‘BPme for BP Plus’ to the ‘BP Plus app’.

*Please be aware, it is still your responsibility to make sure you adhere to any restrictions that may apply to your card.

Reminder: To access all of the latest features and additional BP stores, you will need to update the app on your device to the latest build.

Was the app originally named BPme for BP Plus?

Yes, originally the app was named BPme for BP Plus and was part of the BPme family. In early 2020, the name of the app changed to the BP Plus app.

How do I know if I’m eligible to the BP Plus app?

To check your eligibility, simply add a BP Plus card to the app. The app will notify you if your card is eligible for the BP Plus app.

If you would like more information on your eligibility for this version of the BP Plus app, please contact our Customer Service Team on 1300 1300 27 or through aucustcare@bp.com

Why am I not eligible to use the BP Plus app?

The BP Plus app is only available for selected BP Plus accounts and we apologise if you are not able to use the BP Plus app just yet. Our teams are continuing to develop the app to make it suitable for all BP Plus accounts.

Where can I use the BP Plus app?

You can see all digital payment enabled locations in the ‘Store Finder’ section inside the BP Plus app – look for sites with a mobile phone icon. We continue to grow the number of locations where the BP Plus app is available and constantly update the app as we go.

I don’t have a BP Plus card, can I use the BP Plus app?

BP Customers who prefer to pay with Visa, Amex, MasterCard and PayPal types can download BPme – Mobile Fuel Payment & BP Station Finder app.

How does a fuel card get added to the app?

There are two ways a BP Plus fuel card is added to the BP Plus app.

  1. You receive an invite from your Fleet Manager via SMS*.
  2. You add the card to the app which sends an email to your fleet manager for approval.

*Fleet Managers can link your mobile number to your fuel card during the initial BP Plus account application. This linkage triggers an invite for you to create a BP Plus app account.

How do I send a BP Plus fuel card to my drivers as mentioned above?

During the BP Plus application process, you are able to place a phone number against each card that you require.

Once you place a phone number against each fuel card, they will be able to access the fuel card on their phone until the BP Plus card is cancelled or the driver removes the BP Plus card from the app. They will be able to use the Pay for Fuel feature in the app to purchase fuel until this happens.

What is the SMS authorisation code?

This is a once-off code sent to you by SMS to validate your mobile phone number when you first set up the app for use.

What if I don’t receive my SMS authorisation code?

Check you’ve entered the correct mobile number and that you have phone signal service. Give it a few minutes and if you haven’t received the SMS, contact us on 1300 1300 27 or at aucustcare@bp.com.

How do I create a valid password?

A relatively strong password is 8 or more characters in length, with at least one letter and one number (special characters may also be used). Avoid any obvious words or items that people can easily find out about you, such as your name and birthday.

What is the passcode?

Your passcode is a four-digit number that you input prior to using your BP Plus card to pay for fuel from your car. Choose a passcode that’s easy to remember (as it is used every time Pay for Fuel is used). This number doesn’t have to be the same as the PIN you set for your BP Plus card.

Does the passcode requested in the BP Plus app need to be the same as my BP Plus card PIN?

No. You can choose any four-digit code that you like.

What if I've received an SMS notifying me that I have been 'invited' to use the BP Plus app?

You may have been invited to the BP Plus app by your Fleet Manager. You need to register an account in the app with the same mobile phone number. You don't need to however have been invited to use the app. You are free to create an account and add your BP Plus card directly to the app.

How will I know when my BP Plus card that I added to the app is approved in the BP plus app?

We'll send you a text message when your company approves your card for use in the BP Plus app. If your request is declined by your company you will also receive a text message advising this, as well as a message appearing in ‘Pay for Fuel’ section of the app.

Why hasn’t my BP Plus card been approved for use with the BP Plus app instantly?

Your company's BP Plus account holder needs to approve your card to be used in the BP Plus app. Follow up with your company's account holder/administrator first as your card cannot be used in the app without this approval. You can resend your request through the app if the approval email cannot be found.

Why hasn’t my card been approved for use with the BP Plus app?

After you add your BP Plus card to the app, an activation email is sent to your fleet manager requesting approval. Please speak to your company’s BP Plus account holder/administrator for more information. Either your company either hasn’t yet approved the request or they did not approve your BP Plus card for mobile payments.

Why can’t I add my BP Plus card to the BP Plus app?

If you are still unable to add your BP Plus card, it may be that your company’s BP Plus account is not eligible to use the app at this stage. The BP Plus app is only available for selected BP Plus accounts and we apologise if you are not able to use the app just yet.

How many BP Plus cards can I register to my BP Plus app account?

You can register as many BP Plus cards per BP Plus app account as you need.

Can a BP Plus card that is shared between different drivers be added to multiple BP Plus app accounts?

Yes.

Can I use the same card in two (or more) separate devices?

Yes, however you can only log onto your BP Plus app account on one device at any time. Please note, you are responsible for ensuring you are the only person who can use your BP Plus app account – you must not authorise anyone else to use your BP Plus app account.

I’ve just ordered a BP Plus card, how long until I can use it in the BP Plus app?

As soon as you are issued a BP Plus card number you are free to add it to your BP Plus app account.

If I am sharing a BP Plus card with another driver and they are no longer an employee of the company, how do I cancel their BP Plus app access to our shared card?

In order to deactivate a card from the BP Plus app, the card will need to be cancelled, which will result in all users of the card no longer having access to it.  You can cancel BP Plus cards by logging into your BP Plus Online account or contacting our Customer Service Team on 1300 1300 27 or through aucustcare@bp.com.

A replacement BP Plus card will then need to be ordered and new card details provided to all users. Once this replacement card number is issued, you can add the card number to your BP Plus app account and resume using the app.

I am waiting for my new BP Plus card because my previous card had expired. Am I still able to use the BP Plus app?

Yes. If the expired card was re-issued with a new expiry date then BP Plus app will recognise this and allow you to continue purchasing using the app.

Can I collect Qantas Business Rewards Points with the BP Plus app?

Yes, if your BP Plus account is set up to earn Qantas Business Rewards points. Please visit bpplus.com.au for more information.

Can I earn BP Rewards points when I make a BP Plus app transaction?

No, purchases made with the BP Plus app are currently not available to earn BP Rewards points.

Why am I still not able to use the BP Plus app? / The app is not working; can you see what the issue is?

There may be a few reasons why you may not be able to use the app:

  1. You may need to update to the latest version of the BP Plus app via your App Store or Google Play settings.
  2. If you have submitted a request to use the BP Plus app, your company may not have approved your BP Plus card for mobile payments. Please speak to your company’s BP Plus account holder for more information.
  3. Your BP Plus account is not currently eligible for the BP Plus app.

Please note: the BP Plus app is currently available for selected accounts only. We apologise if you are not able to access the BP Plus app just yet and we are working to make the app available for all BP Plus accounts in the future.

Why is the BP Plus app asking me to register my card again when I have used the app before?

There may be a couple of reasons for this:

  1. If your BP Plus card has been set up with any restrictions and you exceeded a dollar or litre limit, or filled up with an unapproved grade of fuel on your last transaction, a notification has been sent to your company and your card has been removed from the app.
  2. You can still use your physical card in-store but you will need to re-register your card via the app to use the BP Plus app again.
  3. Your BP Plus card may have been cancelled by your company – please speak to your company’s BP Plus account holder/administrator for more information.

I have restrictions on my card; can I use the BP Plus app?

Yes. If your BP Plus card has been set up with any limits or restrictions (e.g. dollar spend, litres, grade of fuel), the BP Plus app will now display a message to remind you of these.

Please be aware, it is still your responsibility to make sure you adhere to any restrictions that may apply to your card. If you exceed a limit or fill up with an unapproved grade of fuel, a notification will be sent to your company account holder and your BP Plus card will be removed from the app for future transactions.

Please note: you will still be able to use your physical BP Plus card in-store. You can re-register your card for the BP Plus app at any time, however account holder approval will need to be provided before the app can be used to pay for fuel.

How do I change the restrictions I have on my BP Plus card?

To change limits on a BP Plus card, please can contact your company’s BP Plus account holder/administrator who can utilise the BP Plus Online portal. Alternatively, please contact our Customer Service Team on 1300 1300 27.  Please note that a new physical card may be generated as a result of these changes, however you will not need to re-register this card via the app.

Can I still use my physical BP Plus card if it is loaded into the BP Plus app?

Yes, you can use both methods of payment. It is advised that you keep your physical BP Plus card or a valid alternative method of payment on you to pay for fuel if mobile phone coverage isn’t available or if a BP site isn’t currently on the digital payment enabled network. We are working to make digital payments available at additional BP sites over time and will continue to keep our customers updated on this progress.

Can I use the BP Plus app with my credit or debit card?

If you would like to pay with MasterCard, Visa, Amex or PayPal, please download our consumer version of the app, BPme: Pay for Fuel in Your Car, from the App Store or Google Play.

How do you know when I am at a BP site?

We have a ‘Geo fence’ set up around each site, so with location services enabled on your phone (which is a requirement for using the BP Plus app), your GPS will tell the app when you arrive on a site and the BP Plus app will display your fuel choices at that site.

How can the BP Plus app be used if phones are not permitted at the pump?

The BP Plus app should only be used while you are inside your stationary car or while you’re in the BP store. Phones are still not permitted for use outside of your car whilst on the forecourt at a BP site.

Why will the BP Plus app only allow me to select certain fuels?

The BP Plus app will only allow you to select fuel grades that your BP Plus card has been authorised for by your account holder.

Please note: due to safety reasons LPG/AutoGas purchases are not permitted using the BP Plus app.

I have fuel grade restrictions on my card, why did the pump allow me to fill up with a fuel grade that I am not authorised to have?

It is your responsibility to make sure you only fill up using fuel grades that have been authorised by your account holder.

If you have filled up with an unapproved grade of fuel, a notification will be sent to your company’s BP Plus account holder and your BP Plus card will be removed from the app for future transactions. Depending on your company’s policy, you or your BP Plus account holder may be liable for payment.

Please note: you will still be able to use your physical BP Plus card in-store. You can re-register your card for the BP Plus app at any time, however account holder approval will need to be provided before the app can be used to pay for fuel.

Can I select my preferred fuel grade?

Your preferred or most commonly used fuel type can be set up in ‘Pay for Fuel’ preferences in ‘Approved Fuel Grades’.  Options available to you will be dependent on the fuel grades authorised on your BP Plus card.

Please note: due to safety reasons LPG/AutoGas purchases are not permitted using the BP Plus app.

I have dollar spend/litre restrictions on my card, why didn’t the app/pump apply these limits?

If your BP Plus card has been set up with any restrictions, the BP Plus app will now display a message to remind you of these.  It is your responsibility to make sure you adhere to any restrictions that apply to your card.

If you have exceeded a limit, a notification will be sent to your company’s BP Plus account holder and your BP Plus card will be removed from the app for future transactions.

Will the BP Plus app still have the same product (fuel grade) restrictions that I have on my BP Plus card?

The BP plus app will only allow you to select fuel grades that your BP Plus card has been authorised for by your account holder. However, it is still your responsibility to make sure you only fill up using fuel grades that have been authorised by your account holder.

Can I get a paper receipt if I pay for fuel with the BP Plus app?

No. You will receive a digital receipt in the BP Plus app after purchase. You can also access your transaction history from within the app and have your receipts emailed to you at any time.

Why isn’t the pump working?

The BP Plus app will only unlock the pump and the fuel type that you chose. If the hose you’ve picked up isn’t working, you may have chosen the wrong pump number or fuel type in the app. Please get back in your car, cancel the process and start again. You will get a receipt for $0 for the cancelled transaction to confirm you haven’t been charged.

Why do I need to enter my odometer reading?

Some companies ask drivers to record their odometer readings each time they fill up, for accounting purposes. If this applies to you, you can type your odometer reading into the BP Plus app when you are prompted.

Why do I need to enter my Vehicle / Fleet / Driver / Order ID?

Some companies ask drivers to record specific details each time they fill up, for accounting and administrative purposes. If this applies to you, you can type your details into the BP Plus app when you are prompted.

What if I can’t remember my passcode?

You will receive 6 attempts to enter the correct passcode. Should you enter this incorrectly 6 times, the account will be locked for 15 minutes. For assistance moving forward, utilise the ‘forgotten passcode’ link in the app or alternatively call our Customer Service Team on 1300 1300 27 to reset manually.

Do I need access to the internet to use the BP Plus app?

Yes. To use the BP Plus app, you must have an internet-enabled eligible mobile device which is connected to the internet and uses a software version that supports the BP Plus app.

Can I pay for in-store items using the BPme for BP Plus app?

No. The BP Plus app currently only allows for the payment of fuel. If you wish to purchase any other products, you will need to pay for these in store with cash or a debit/credit card.

Is there a cost for the BP Plus app?

No. The BP Plus app is free to download from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

What phone can the BP Plus app be used on?

The BP Plus app will work on iPhones and Android phones, such as Samsung, HTC and Huawei.

Please note: the BP Plus app is not compatible with Windows phones.

Will the BP Plus app use mobile data?

Yes, location services must be activated for you to pay in your car using the BP Plus app. Costs depend on phone plans.

Are you tracking me?

The BP Plus app makes use of geo-location tracking whenever you are using the BP Plus app. This is used to find your site location when using ‘Pay for Fuel’ or the ‘Store Finder’ functions. For more information on how we collect and use details like geo-tracking, please see our BP Plus Collection Notice and the BP Privacy Statement.

Is there an increased risk of fraud using the BP Plus app?

The BP Plus app does not increase risk of fraud. In fact, there are two forms of security checks in the set-up process:

  1. Any request to provision a BP Plus card to a BP Plus app account requires approval from an account authority.
  2. Where the BP Plus card has been provisioned by the driver, the Fleet Manager needs to approve the request by email (Activation Email).

The Activation Email contains two types of information:

  • Information about the requesting driver: drivers name, email address and, phone number.
  • Information about the card the driver is attempting to use: card number, the registration number or driver’s name the card is registered to, any limits that the card has applied to it.

The app is also secured by a Password and a Passcode. The Passcode is required each time the app user wants to perform Pay in Car.

I have lost my phone and it looks like someone else has used my BP Plus card. Do I need to pay?

You will need to pay for any transactions made up until the end of the day that you contact BP to cancel your BP Plus card within the BP Plus app. The support team will be able to cancel your BP Plus app digital card and leave your physical card working if you still have it. You can contact our Customer Service Team on 1300 1300 27 or through AUcustcare@bp.com

What do I do if an employee using the BP Plus app has left the company?

As per standard procedure, you should cancel the BP Plus card by logging into your BP Plus Online account or contacting our Customer Service Team on 1300 1300 27 or through AUcustcare@bp.com. Remember, there could be a delay of 3 hours or longer if cancelled overnight for the BP Plus card to be declined when being used to purchase fuel in store.

My phone died during the transaction. What happens now?

If you have already authorised the transaction, you will be able to pump your fuel and you should get a receipt. You can check the pump transaction by going into the store and asking a Customer Service Representative or on your phone when it’s recharged.

The BP Plus app froze during the transaction. What happens now?

If you have already authorised the transaction, you will be able to pump your fuel and you should get a receipt. You can check the pump transaction by going into the store and asking a Customer Service Representative and/or contact BP Customer Services on 1300 1300 27 or through AUcustcare@bp.com

Remember to only use your phone within your stationary vehicle or inside the store.

How do I turn on location settings on my mobile phone?

Please refer to your device manufacturer for instructions.

Where will my BP Plus app transactions appear on BP Plus reports?

Transactions from the BP Plus app will be shown in two locations:

  1. Fleet Control Report - The Customer Reference field usually contains Order Number information.  If your driver was prompted to provide an Order Number, then the driver’s entry will be shown. If the driver was not prompted for an Order Number, then their masked phone number (e.g. ‘0412 345 678’ will be ‘04***678’) will be shown. We have chosen to use masked numbers for privacy reasons.
  2. BP Plus Online reporting - You will be able to identify a BP Plus app transaction by Transaction Type or Transaction Capture fields in all BP Plus Online reporting or on the Transaction Details screen, as follows:
    • Transaction Type= Mobile Payment
    • Transaction Capture Method= W
    • Transaction Capture Source= BPM

BP Plus account holders can easily access BP Plus app transactional information via BP Plus Online. Follow the below steps to run your reporting for the BP Plus app:

  • Login to BP Plus online.
  • Select Reports > Run a Report
  • In the 'Report Type' section of this page, select 'Transactions', then select any of the versions for Export Transactions.
  • Select the relevant account/s, report filters, delivery method and then select 'Run Report'
  • Open the Excel report that is generated.

What is the BP Plus app Portal?

An online administrative tool to help you manage BP Plus app users across your BP Plus account.

What features does it have?

BP Plus app portal simplifies the administrative side of managing the BP Plus app across your fleet. The BP Plus app portal allows you to:

  1. Scale up app usage by setting up BP Plus app for your entire fleet.
  2. Search, view and remove BP Plus app users from your account.
  3. Minimise administrative workload and approval processes by delegating app approvers.
  4. Download BP Plus app data.

Is there a cost?

We’re pleased to offer you access to the BP Plus app portal at no additional cost¹.

How do I register/obtain access?

The BP Plus app portal will be limited to a select number of customers in the early phase of release. Please contact your bp Sales Manager for more information.

What’s the difference between the BP Plus app portal and BP Plus Online?

BP Plus app portal is an online tool to help you manage all things relating to the BP Plus app; our mobile fuel payment app for BP Plus cards.

BP Plus Online is the management and reporting tool of BP Plus accounts, where you can order and update physical BP Plus cards, view and extract transaction reports and update account details.

What BP Plus app data can I download?

Generate a full list of BP Plus cards in your account that currently use the BP Plus app.

Can I add/remove physical BP Plus cards from my BP Plus account?

You can remove BP Plus app users from your account via the BP Plus app portal. Cancelling physical BP Plus cards from your BP Plus account will still need to be completed via BP Plus Online.

Who currently approves BP Plus app registrations on my account?

When an app user adds a BP Plus card number to their app, an email is sent requesting approval. The ‘primary’ or ‘mobile provisioning’ contact email address as listed in your BP Plus Online account is set up to receive these emails and approve requests.

Note: In many cases for larger fleet managed customers, bp has turned off the ability for cardholders to add cards to the BP Plus app. If you are not receiving Activation Emails but are happy for your drivers to send you an Activation Request, contact your bp Sales Manager.

How do I create a mobile provisioning contact email address in BP Plus Online?

  • Log on to BP Plus Online.
  • Navigate to 'Update Your Account' and select 'View and edit contacts'.
  • Select 'Add a contact' and select 'Mobile Provisioning' as the contact type.
  • Complete contact details and select 'Save'.

Are there information sheets or instructions I can share with my drivers?

There are two ways a BP Plus fuel card is added to the BP Plus app:

  1. You could receive an invite from your Fleet Manager via SMS*. For more information on getting started with the BP Plus app after receiving an SMS, download our one-pager here.
  2. Or you can add your BP Plus fuel card to the app, which sends an email to your fleet manager for approval. For more information on loading your fuel card to the BP Plus app, download our one-pager here.

*Fleet Managers can link your mobile number to your fuel card during the initial application process to obtain a BP Plus account. This linkage triggers an invite for you to create a BP Plus app account.

Who can I contact if I need technical support?

Please contact your bp Sales Manager should you need help with the BP Plus App Portal.

¹BP Plus app portal is subject to eligibility criteria and BP Plus app portal T&Cs. Internet data fees and charges may apply.
