- September Azeri-Chirag-Deepwater Gunashli (ACG) production sharing agreement (PSA) signed by bp, its co-venturers and the government of Azerbaijan.
1995
- February Azerbaijan International Operating Company (AIOC) formed
1996
- June Shah Deniz PSA signed
1997
- November First oil produced from the Chirag field
1998
- December Western Route Export Pipeline operations started

- February Production at Central Azeri started
- May Inauguration of Azerbaijani section of the BTC pipeline
- December Production at West Azeri started
2006
- June First gas flowed into the SCP
- June First tanker filled with Caspian oil at Ceyhan marine terminal
- July Inauguration of Turkish section of the BTC pipeline, Ceyhan terminal and the BTC pipeline export system
- November First profit oil produced at East Azeri
- December First gas produced from Shah Deniz Stage 1
2009
- March BTC capacity expanded to 1.2 million barrels per day
2011
- May New PSA for the Shafag-Asiman structure ratified by the Azerbaijani Parliament
- October Shah Deniz gas sales and transit agreements signed in Turkey
2012
- January Shafag-Asiman completed the first 3D seismic survey
- May ACG celebrated 2 billionth barrel of oil produced since first oil
- October BTC celebrated the loading of 2,000th tanker at Ceyhan
2013
- June Shah Deniz consortium announced selection of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) as a transportation route to Europe.
- September Shah Deniz consortium concluded 25-year gas sales agreements with European buyers
- September The topsides for the West Chirag platform were safely installed offshore onto the jacket
- December - Final investment decision for the Stage 2 development of the Shah Deniz was announced
- December - Five-year extension from 2031 to 2036 to the Shah Deniz PSA signed
2014
- January Production at West Chirag started from one of the pre-drilled wells and this completed the Chirag oil project
- April Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan celebrated the loading of 2,500th tanker at the Ceyhan terminal
- June Wiith host governments, partners and other stakeholders, we celebrated the 20th Anniversary of the ‘Contract of the Century’ and held a ground-breaking ceremony for the Southern Gas Corridor
- December bp and SOCAR signed a PSA on the joint exploration and development of potential prospects in the shallow water area around the Absheron peninsula
2015
- February Central Azeri celebrated its 10-year anniversary
- September The two hull sections for a subsea construction vessel named Khankendi left Singapore heading to the Caspian Sea
- September 3000th tanker loaded with BTC oil sailed away from Ceyhan
2016
- May bp and SOCAR signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly explore potential prospects in block D230 in the North Absheron Basin in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian Sea
- May The subsea construction vessel "Khankendi” was re-floated into the Caspian Sea at the Baku Shipyard quay

- March bp signes a Memorandum of Understanding to cooperate with Azerbaijan in assessing the potential and conditions required for large-scale decarbonized and integrated energy and mobility systems, including renewable energy projects in the regions and cities of the country
