Supporting local economic development in Senegal

As part of its environmental and social commitment to Saint Louis in Senegal, bp has been funding a social investment programme to support the fishing communities in Langue de Barbarie and Gandiol communities. 

Administered by implementation partner the West African Association for the Development of Artisanal Fishing (WADAF/ADEPA), the project is designed to improve the livelihood of the men and women working in artisanal fisheries. 
Women fish processing training programmes

Activities include fish processing training, donation of fishing equipment, the provision of microfinance credit funds.

 

bp also supported the planning and construction of a marine hardware store in the Language of Barbarie providing access to essential, affordable, quality equipment for fishermen.
