Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)

  • The overall format and structure of a P&ID.
  • How equipment, piping, instrumentation, and controls are identified.
  • The various roles involved in using and maintaining P&IDs.

A P&ID is a graphical representation of the process flow, instrumentation, and construction of an Operation. P&IDs are commonly used while performing Hazard Identification and Task Risk Assessment (HITRA), Lockout Tagout (LOTO), Emergency Preparedness, and many other tasks.
