Offshore wind

Ready for wind
The UK needs more home-grown, lower carbon energy as it transitions to net zero. bp’s ambition is to be a net zero company by 2050, or sooner and to help the world get to net zero.

We aim to be a global leader in safely developing, building, operating and owning offshore wind farms. We’re making waves towards our aims, developing offshore wind farms in the Irish and North Sea capable of contributing to the UK’s 50-gigawatt wind power target by 2030.

In the UK, along with our partner EnBW, we are leading the development of the Morgan and Mona projects in the Irish Sea and Morven in the North Sea. These have a combined potential generating capacity of 5.9GW, sufficient to power the equivalent of around 6 million households. In early 2023, we were successful in our bid for our first floating offshore wind demonstration project offshore Aberdeenshire.
