Flora – floating innovation project

In March 2023, bp was successful in its bid to develop its innovation demonstrator floating offshore wind project off the coast of Aberdeenshire.
  • As we look to significantly build our offshore wind footprint around the world, we expect this to increasingly include floating options, and this is one exciting first step.
  • The project has the potential in the future for energy from it to be integrated into Aberdeen Hydrogen Hub, which we're developing with Aberdeen City Council demonstrating bp’s commitment to creating integrated energy systems.
  • This project is expected to be the first one our Aberdeen O&M centre of excellence will serve.
  • Local suppliers will also play a vital role in delivering this project and that’s why we’ve launched a dedicated online portal for them to register their interest.
