In June 2018, bp in Hungary hosted Mélanie Astles, a Challenger Class pilot in the Red Bull Air Race and fifth best female pilot in the world
As part of the Red Bull Air Race experience, Melanie met with colleagues who also had the chance to get tickets to the Red Bull Air Race in Budapest in 2018.
Mélanie, the first woman to win a race in the sport, talked about her perspectives on career planning: passion, persistence and overcoming the odds. She also spoke about her career journey, shared her thoughts about personal and professional development and how she owned her career over the past years to achieve her dream to become a pilot and succeed.
Four hundred bp colleagues and their friends were invited to enjoy the Red Bull Air Race in Budapest together. Colleagues and their friends were offered the opportunity to attend the qualification race and a ‘behind the scenes experience’ on Saturday, to meet the pilots and crews and check out their race planes, or to join the Grandstand along the Danube on Sunday, when the final race took place and the pilots flew under the iconic Chain Bridge.
